How To Get Addmission

Addmission Policy(Importent points) The Following Instructions are for addmission in all medical colleges of N.W.F.P .

1. This Prospectus is approved by the Government of NWFP & applies to all students of MBBS/BDS of NWFP Medical/Dental Colleges. The Government of NWFP reserves the right to change any or all the rules and regulations given in this prospectus without previous notice whenever considered necessary. Each candidate must study it thoroughly before applying for admission to the colleges.

2. The Admission Policy contained in the prospectus shall be applicable to all NWFP Medical & Dental Colleges under administrative control of Government of NWFP namely: -

Khyber Medical College Peshawar/Ayub Medical College Abbottabad/Girls Campus Peshawar/Siudo Medical College Swat/Gomal Medical College D.I.Khan/Bannu Medical College Bannu

Dental Colleges

Khyber College of Dentisty Peshawar

Ayub Denta Section Abbottabad

3. Medical/Dental Colleges of NWFP offer 5 years/4years course leading to MBBS/BDS degree respectively and are affiliated with the University of Peshawar.

4. A break-up of the different seats in the Medical & Dental Colleges of NWFP, Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore (for Girls only) and in the Medical & Dental Colleges outside NWFP (For FATA candidates) for admission during the academic session 2001-2002 is given in the Prospectus. The government however, reserves the right to modify the same for valid reasons any time before/during admission.

5. Admission to the Medical/Dental Colleges will be made by the joint admission committee except for certain category of seat as specified in the admission policy.

6. All students are required to read, know and abide by the rules and regulations mentioned in this prospectus. Ignorance of rules and regulations is no excuse. Any change / addition/ modification/ decision if made in the rules & regulations after publication of this prospectus shall also be applicable to all applicants/students

7. The fees and subscription given in the prospectus are payable by all the students of Medical & Dental Colleges from 1st year to Final year classes. This may be subject to adjustment by the Government from time to time corresponding to inflation and increasing cost of education.

8. The Principal of the college reserves the right to make any change in the syllabi, Curriculum and examination for all the MBBS/BDS students as and when notified by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council at any time during the course of studies

9. Cost of litigation regarding admission, examination or any other matter of a student will be born by the respective college

10. The Govt. has established provision for a scholarship scheme for students of NWFP and FATA domicile to support meritorious, needy and disabled students in meeting the cost of their education. Other Government/Organizations may wish to similarly support their own students. All efforts will be made to ensure that the scholarships for NWFP/FATA are maintained. However, for compelling financial reasons, the Government reserves the right to make adjustments in the same. Candidates must indicate in the relevant column of the application form for any financial help they would need during their studies. They must apply for a Scholarship/ financial assistance, once they are admitted. The decision to give or deny assistance shall vest in the college.

11. The Joint Admission Committee shall exercise its power to decide all cases related to admission and the decision of the Joint Admission Committee shall be accepted by the candidates. Discontented candidates however, shall have the right to approach the Government for appeal against the decision, whose decision shall be final.

12. In all cases where these regulations are silent or where there is difference of opinion about their interpretation, the matter will be referred to the Government and decision of the Government thereon shall be final.

Entrance Test And Determination Of Merit

1 There will be an Entrance Test for admission into first year MBBS/BDS classes of Medical/ Dental Colleges in Public Sector of NWFP by such authority designated by the Government of NWFP. The date for Entrance Test will be notified in the national daily newspapers. Any change in schedule of Entrance Test Date/procedure will be notified in newspapers. All the candidate who have obtained at least 60% unadjusted marks in their F.Sc. (Pre-medical) examination or equivalent foreign examination are eligible to sit in the Entrance test irrespective of the domicile.

2. The Test Will be held in the following subjects of F.Sc. (Pre-Medical):-

i. Physics     ii. Chemistry     iii. Biology

iv. English (general for language proficiency)

3. The candidate will be issued Entrance test card after submission of the prescribed Performa by the due date and time along with relevant documents. Excuse of delay in declaration of F.Sc. (Pre-Medical result by any board will not be entertained.

4. All the candidates seeking admission in NWFP Medical & Dental Colleges, except against technical assistance seats, foreign self Finance sets (who had Pre-Medical education abroad) and reciprocal of Punjab will have to pass the Entrance test conducted by the Govt of NWFP. For reciprocal seat, the candidate must have passed Entrance Test conducted by the Punjab Government.

5. The candidates passing F.Sc pre-medical in the supplementary examination of the year of admission will not be eligible to apply for the Entrance test/admission for the current session. Weightage factors preparation of the final merit list will be as under:-

Examination / Test Weightage Factor:

.i Matric/SSC or equivalent level examination 10%

ii. Adjusted marks F.Sc or equivalent examination 50%

iii. Entrance Test 40%

The Entrance Test papers will be of MCQ type and will consists of :

1. Biology 60 2. Chemistry 60 3. Physics 60

4. English 20

The Entrance Test will be from the entire F.Sc. course in the above mentioned subjects except for

English.

6. The pass percentage in the Entrance test will 40% and any candidate who fails to qualify the Entrance test will not be considered for admission. The result of the test is valid for the current academic year only. The result of the previous years(s) will not be considered for the subsequent years(s) and the candidate will have to reappear in the Entrance test if he/she desires to apply for the current admission session. No candidate shall be allowed to sit in the Entrance test more than three times.

7. The foreign candidates applying for the Foreign Self-Finance and Technical Assistance Programme Seats excluding Afghan Refuges will be required, on their nomination for admission, to appear and qualify a standard examination/ Entrance test in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology arranged the concerned institution where he/she is seeking admission and pass the same.

8. The result of the Entrance Test will be displayed on the college

9. A candidate passing in the Entrance test cannot claim admission against any seat unless he/she fulfils the other criteria as specified in this admission policy.

After the result of Entrance test conducted by the Govt. of NWFP, Chairman Joint Admission Committee / Principal KMC will prepare a joint merit list which will be displayed on the date announced in press. Objection if any be submitted in writing to Chairman Joint Admission Committee / Principal KMC within two days, and Chairman Joint Admission Committee / Principal KMC will be competent to rectify any error or omission. The Chairman Joint Admission Committee / Principal KMC will invite application for admission from the eligible candidates through an advertisement in the press to reach his office by specified date and time

criteria:

All the candidates applying for admission in MBBS/BDS courses in the Medical/Dental Colleges of NWFP, Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore ( For Girls only). & other Medical and Dental Colleges outside NWFP (FOR FATA candidates) and for the reciprocal seat must fulfill the following requirements.

a. ELIGIBILITY

1. Posses the qualifications as given in the admission policy.

2. Clear the Admission Entry Test as described in the admission policy.

3. Meet eligibility criteria and other requirements as given in the Admission Policy.

b. QUALIFICATION

All candidates applying for admission against any category of seat must have passed the F.Sc. (Per-Medical) examination of a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Pakistan in 1st Division with at least 60% unadjusted marks.

OR

Cleared an examination of Foreign University other than Afghanistan which in scope and standard is found equivalent to the F.Sc (Pre-Medical) examination of Pakistan subject to the following:

i) The examination is recognized as equivalent to F.Sc (Pre-Medical) by the IBCC. It shall be the responsibility of the candidates to clear their cases through the IBCC; Islamabad for recognition of their qualification and the equivalent certificate must be attached with the application form before the closing date.

ii) Provisional equivalence certificate issued by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen shall not be entertained for sitting in the Entry Test or admission.

iii) The candidate has obtained marks equivalent to unadjusted 60% of F.Sc total marks according to the formula laid down by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Islamabad.

iv) The equivalence certificates of such candidates will not be accepted if he/she has not studied and passed the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in his/her 11th and 12th Grade/ A level or other equivalent examination recognized by the IBCC.

v) Converted/Marks Certificate by the IBCC will not be accepted by itself for merit/admission until confirmed independently by the Joint Admission Committee. For this purpose, Joint Admission Committee will set up a Marks Conversion Committee which will assess and reconfirm the conversion of marks (in percentage of Total marks of recognized Pakistan Intermediate Boards) according to the weightages fixed by the IBCC for different examinations. Only the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology will be considered for the marks conversion purpose. The other subjects which are not taught in Pakistan (F.Sc Per-Medical) will not be entertained for this purpose.
